Also a great ( english) view of Afghanistan before the 20th century invasions started.....
1 reviewer said it is the ' funniest travel book ever written ' I agree, had me in stitches. Had to re read it after 10 years, still hilarious. Love the ending- so true.

Although not true to the actual story ( why does Hollywood feel compelled to discover a great true story and fictionalise it?), it is very well done. I read the book first and then watched the film. I recommend watch the film first and then read the book, that way you won't feel cheated by Hollywood.
A truly amazing story, 1 I won't forget.
