I love Olivia Colman, and this film shows her at her best. And Jessie Buckley was a wonderful foil for Colman. All the supporting actors were excellent too.
The film was expertly directed and edited, nothing extraneous, crisply paced. And the ending was gratifying.

I loved this book. A mystery without a detective, just an interesting family in an overwhelming setting. And a very mysterious death in the family. With a very convincing solution to the mystery.

I ended up loving this book. It was hard to get into at first, and some of the Highlander speech was a little hard to decipher, but soon I got absorbed by Waverley’s frightening adventures. By the end it felt as if I was living in 1745 Scotland.
