A waste of time. Too gore.. the scene of an infected mother giving birth was disgusting and pointless. The scene of the doctor killing the sick mum and giving her skull to her son was ridiculous. Was supposed to be emotional, was just crap. The funny moments were not funny and the tense ones were just disgusting. That’s a shame as first episode was good.

Good movie, initially I was not sure where the movie was going but at the end several interesting themes were explored like cloning, corporate ethics, political egomania… Visuals are amazing notably on the extraterrestrial planet. There is also lots of dark humour that I appreciated. But the best thing was the brilliant performance of Mark Ruffalo in the sociopath politician role and his wife (Toni Colette), superb duo!. And of course Robert Pattinson who surprised me on this role nailing the personality of 2 different characters quite well. One of those actors should have an Oscar in my humble opinion.

The movie has a bit of Mission Impossible and Jason Bourne vibes. Like mission impossible you get the agency turning against his own agent…and action goes in several countries, which overall is a familiar interesting background. But the key issue is the acting, Rami’s performance is just bad.. range of emotions is so limited. Just take the scene when he is informed about his wife’s death, so bad.. it is so ridiculous that you almost want to laugh. Compare this scene with John Wick’s grief and he loses his partner, night and day.. And the plot… this guy is an amateur and is able to lose the CIA so easily making them look like they are the real amateurs. He has also been able to eliminate many killers without a scratch, the story is just poorly written. The only performance I liked was Laurence Fishburn’s.. he should do more movies before retiring.

I found the storyline fine. And these days, movie producers unfortunately focus more on the visuals than the story, so it was good to see that a bit of an effort has been made on that front for once. However, I could not help but notice that the lion hunt across the movie looked very similar to the chase in Apocalypto (great movie by the way!!). I will be curious to read other reviews to see if others agree. The white lion had his son killed and chases Mufasa across the savana to get revenge. Same thing in Apocalypto. Exact similar scene on the waterfall as well, with Mufasa jumping and still chased by a group of hunters tracking him. Timon and Pumbaa are useless in this movie and not funny at all. Every moment now and then focusing on them was a waste of time. The songs were simply immemorable, that’s a shame, that was one of Lion king’s original key strengths, the circle of life did not cercle to this last version apparently… Scar character build up was a bit weak, he was presented as a good guy who was just not very brave. Dialogues were not as cool and fun as in the first Lion King. On Mufasa, I would just say the character was consistent. Overall let’s say OK to watch.

I knew before heading to the theater that I was going to be disappointed. Gladiator 1 was really good and it just fell like doing another movie for the sake of just making money.. The storyline looks too much like the first one, the general who becomes a slave, the slave who becomes a gladiator, and the gladiator who wants to restore Rome to its former glory… looks too familiar… The new Maximus is a poor actor. The emperors lack personality and Denzel Washington spends his time laughing for nothing… or maybe just at himself for accepting to play this shit role.. Best acting was probably from the monkey who should get an award for best supporting role.. and that movie definitely needed support…
