The movie (and the novel) conveys a message about domestic violence, which is important and commendable. However, the acting skills of Baldoni and Lively are so poor that the film borders on being just another clichรฉd romantic movie, if not for its focus on domestic violence.
Lively's performances tend to feel the same across all the movies and series sheโs appeared in. She doesnโt fully immerse herself in the characters she plays, which leaves me with the impression of poor acting skills, and I'm probably right about that one.
The only truly valuable aspect of this movie, in my opinion, is that it clearly highlights the red flags people should watch for when it comes to domestic and emotional abuse in relationships. Therefore one star.
