A great cast overshadowed by lack of storytelling and grandeur.
The king is a dark and gritty retelling of the battle of agincourt. It lacks the grandness and epic of military cinema.
The characters whilst played by strong actors lack diversity. Expect no magnificence, expect no glory, expect no skilled battles or swordplay.
Instead, expect a dramatic retelling of early european government conflicts and quarrels without the grand stage and armies that weโd expect from historic accounts of the time period.
Itโs a fun watch but severely desperate for budget. It appears the budget went almost exclusively on the actors, without them itโs just another (slightly less) heroic attempt at a historic adaption of war.
