It was a really good movie and an excellent end to the franchise, but there were a few problems with it that I think a lot of people aren’t going to be happy about. Firstly there was no furious 5 in the movie besides the very last scene and even then they don’t have any lines. This was a major disappointment for me and many others, I’m sure. There also was barely any Shifu in the movie, he only is in the first 15 min and then the last 5. I did sort of understand this decision because it allowed the story to focus solely on Po which makes sense because it is his story, but it is still a disappointment none the less. Another problem were the villains. The main villain got beaten so easily and by the weak side character which made no sense because of all the powers she obtained in the movie. And then when all the previous villains came back and Po saved them, they all just went back to the spirit realm?? Why?? That just made no sense. Also Po’s dads were legit just there for comedic relief. They offer absolutely nothing to the film. The writers could’ve totally replaced them with the furious 5.

Ok in my honest opinion, the movie was not the best, but to say that it was horrible or the worst movie in recent years is wildly dramatic. The movie is not great, but it is by no means bad. It’s not something that I would recommend people if they are looking for a good watch, but it’s not so bad that I regret going to the theatre and watching it. I’m going to start this off by saying that practically 80-90% of the 1 star reviews are only rating this movie poorly because of the fact that it has 4 women at the forefront. Please if you have a brain, don’t listen to those comments. Now read what I have to say if h want a genuine review of the film. The visuals? Great! The music? Also great! The characters and plot? Not so great! The plot is very dragged out and can get pretty boring. Nothing interesting really happens until around 35-40min in if I’m being honest. The plot also feels very generic and cliche which is such a disappointment because I feel as though the writers had so much to work with on this film. The characters are sort of interesting, but we don’t really get to know anything in particular about them besides one scene where everyone starts trauma dumping in a motel room. The script really was below average and not great. It had absolutely no nuance to it, which is why I don’t blame the actors. Not even Sydney Sweeney and Dakota Johnson could save this. The villain is not threatening at all. In fact his dialogue has to be the worst out of everyone’s. He just says generic bad guy lines as if this were a kids movie. He doesn’t even put up a good fight in any of his interactions with the characters. Because of that, there was never any suspense in the movie. It didn’t feel like characters trying to survive an onslaught from a guy with superhuman powers. It felt like a joke tbh. None of the 3 main girls even get powers in this movie, it was all just a vision which we see at the very end. That was really annoying because I feel like they advertised that so much. At the end the main character, Cassie, all of a sudden becomes this really wise and knowledgeable person who knows tons of stuff about the future and she also goes blind. It was really random. All in all, it’s not something I would recommend but please go see for yourself. I thought it was a pretty fun watch, especially due to the fact that you don’t have to take it seriously in any sense because it’s pretty unserious in and of itself.

I thought the film was not only entertaining but very funny and moving. It told a story and one that felt precise and had a voice. I will admit it had a very weird premise and if the roles were reversed this movie would be completely bombarded with complaints (as it should), but sometimes you just need to go into a movie and not dissect every single layer of it. It was just a good laugh and that’s ok. It was campy, hilarious and even a bit emotional. Definitely a 5/5. Just maybe don’t go see it with your kids lol
