This game is really fun to play. I played it once with a friend on 2 Nintendo Switch systems.
For those considering to get the game, here are the basics:
Before gameplay starts, you choose a point limit (the more points required to win, the longer time it takes) and one of 6 maps. Each of these are really creative. However, my friends and I mostly stuck to the classic stage.
Each player is assigned a ghost, Player 1 gets Blinky (Red), P2 and P3 get Pinky and Inky (Pink and Blue), but are swapped around depending on the version of the game, and P4 gets Funky (Green). Each round, someone plays as PAC-MAN while the others use their assigned ghost. PAC-MAN has to collect pellets for points, but scared ghosts and fruit can also do that. The only way for ghosts to get points is fruit (which also increases their very limited vision) and catching PAC-MAN. When one catches PAC-MAN, they receive a hefty amount of points from the caught player and then that person gets to be PAC-MAN, for a chance at more points. When someone gets to the set amount of points, gameplay is interrupted and the winner is displayed.
This game is playable in three different ways.
The original version was on GameCube, and is extremely hard to find. Required is the disc, a GameCube/older Wii, 1-3 GameCube controllers, a GC-GBA link cable, and a GBA/GBASP/GBM/DS/DSLite.
The ghosts use the GameCube controllers and the TV while PAC-MAN has the handheld. 2-4 players.
The second version is found on "NAMCO MUSEUM DS" for DS. All that's required is one copy of the game and a DS/DSi/2DS/3DS system for each player, as the game is Download Play compatible. The transfer between ghost and PAC-MAN is seamless because you don't have to pass unique controllers around, as everyone has their own two screens, I imagine. 2-4 players.
The most modern one, and the one I experienced was on Nintendo Switch, found playable on "NAMCO MUESEUM" and "NAMCO ARCADE PAC". This version is unique because there is two modes for this game. The classic mode, the one I played, for 2-4 players, and the Single Console mode, for 1-3 players. This has you playing as a permanent ghost getting points from capturing PAC-MAN (CPU) faster than the other ghosts.
Wow. I said a lot. If you read this far, thanks. If you can get your hands on this game, I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. 5/5, would recommend.
(PS: On GameCube and Switch, MARIO COMMENTATES!!)
