I have a deeper respect for Denzel. I have always admired him though. This movie to me is the heart of Black pain and how it splintered into an array of psychological contortions for survival. This is what I ALWAYS wanted to see told about the Black experience and how its not a watered down or a well intended depiction for aspiration. This is who we are! This is where we come from and carries to this day.... It's Madame C.J.Walker, W. E. Du bois, Beyoncรฉ, James Cleveland, B. T. Washington. Its this type of pain that caused a cosmic explosion in the Black race sending it into a beloved anathema of itself.
