Carrie Cracknell's version of Persuasion is so delectable! It has all the angst and longing that Jane Austen intended but having the main character speak to the audience in these brief monologues drew me in to feel even deeper.
Period pieces can feel stodgy or boring but this is NOT the case here. The music, the cinematography, the writing with all the digs and the humor were all on point to draw a younger generation to read or at least watch more of Jane Austen's work.
Dakota Johnson was so amazing in this. I love how she plays her character so well. She was witty, funny, lovable and intelligent. Her chemistry with both men were so palpable.
I love how Cosmo, who plays Captain Wentworth, softly commandeered the screen. His character's angst for Anne was brilliantly displayed all over his eyes, his face, his being and his words. It was so exquisite to watch and to feel.
This movie reminds us that life is short and to speak our minds freely to give us the best chance at happiness and love.
