This is one of the most surreal novels I've come across and once I'm finished reading it, I plan on re-reading it immediately. Kaufman's writing style reminds me a little of John Kennedy Toole (RIP), the author of A Confederacy of Dunces. I am actually still reading this book and it's taken me over a year so far. That's not because it's boring or even difficult to read, but because there are so many, many layers to it that you need to take breaks to let the story process. Never have I met a character I simultaneously couldn't stand, felt bad for, sympathized with, and started to worry about. I've so far never outright liked B, but he's someone I would always enjoy talking with. I am dying to find out what the outcome is and what the hell Brainio is, but I'll enjoy the slow ride while I'm on it.
