Good movie from cinematic angle. Agree that an unintentional slap in heat of the moment is condemn-able even if under influence of alcohol. But by taking such incident too far & get divorced is way too overstretched. The message this movie is giving to young married women, specially in these financially liberal times, will ultimately have extremely detrimental consequences for sacred institution called family.
Friendship is also a key element in husband-wife relation. So if a friend slaps other then should the relationship come to an end just like that. How many of us haven't had fight with our best of our friends, didn't we make it up after sometime? Life is all about forgiving & forgetting.
No doubt it's mostly women at receiving end in society even today but many men too tolerate absurd, sometimes violent, behaviour & in some cases even forgive infidelity of their wives to save marriage or for sake of children. Talk with any senior divorce lawyer in real life unofficially & you will know how young women are snapping marital cords on pettiest of issues while taking advantage of women favoring laws.
If a wife slaps her husband unintentionally then should husband file for a divorce?
So it's a gray area but movie just focused on one aspect & that too with an emotional overdrive while ignoring the practical aspects of life completely. Spouses should respect each other definitely but if all married men/women follow the path in movie then 'family' will become just a word in dictionary.
