This documentary is disturbing and unsettling for numerous reasons, mostly because of the role the parents played in the continued abuse their innocent daughter endured for numerous years. The excuse of this was a different time is ridiculous statement at best. Parents have been protecting their children since the beginning of time. I agree there are people that are master manipulators and unfortunately children do get abused without parents knowing, but these parents were well aware of what was going on(1)They didn’t report their daughter missing(the first time) for many days (2) they knew she was sexual assulted and they have this man access to their daughter by letting him sleep in her bed a few days a week. Their excuse, a psychologist said “ it was good thearpy for the perpetrator”. Did they consider what was best for their daughter?(3) they assisted in helping this man defense in retracting their statement which allowed him to elude prosecution. Both parents were more interested in keeping their secret of the fact they both had a sexual relationship with this monster. I do believe it’s extremely important for documentaries that educated people to recognize red flags so that innocent children are not harmed. This documentary was skewed towards clearing the conscious of the parents and making the audience believe they were the victims. Furthermore, The documentary title “Abducted In Plain Sight” is not accurate, their daughter was not abducted, the parents allowed this monster to take her “in Plain Sight.”
