WARNING: LONG THREAD
This show was on my list for so long and I wasn't even sure I was going to ever get around to watching it because for some reason the trailer just didn't give me the kicks. Eventually I did and ohhh boy! Do I LOVE it. The characters delivered and then delivered some more. Gotta also applaud the character inclusivity.
If you are looking for full-on romcom, this is not for you at all. What romance there is, is just a sprinkle here and there. When we finally got a couple, the show was already wrapping up. But if you're looking for "gat me in my feelings (although it's not romance, each scene was heart felt) inspiring, I can do bad all by myself type of drama, hit that ▶️ button now.
In my opinion, It ended quite perfectly too. A lot of reviews have mentioned the suddenness of Saeroyi's love for Yi-seo and how he should have stuck to his old time love. There was nothing sudden about it at all! The feelings grew and we all watched it grow. Be realistic! Love like everything else has to be nurtured or else it would die. There was nothing that showed that Soo-ah loved this guy. She lived for herself and herself alone and with a background like hers, I don't blame even her for that. But her holding out for Park wasn't because she had strong feelings for him (if anything, it was more of her loyalty to his father. Remove the father factor and he would've been bulldozed out of the way. What with him trying to fizzle out her source of income), it was the comfort in knowing she had someone that loved her regardless of whatever. She was selfish.
Park on the other hand held on to a childhood love. Let's not forget, his social ineptitude and his focus on his revenge that made it most likely impossible to have dated other people. It made sense that he was hung on his "first love". And it probably would have worked out if the girl had stayed with him to fight his battles(or just be there). Which is what Yi-seo did. Wouldn't you have found it awkward if Soo-ah and him ended up together? In 16episodes how much time did they spend together? She literally knows nothing about him, save for he's a nice and consistent person who wants revenge. What little she knows about him was from their pre-prison relationship. Now let's put that aside, his tendency to consider others and his calm nature is exactly the perfect fit for wild cat Yi-seo. They know they are completely opposite people but they balance each other out perfectly.
I think the writers did justice to this show and if you are wondering if it's worth your time, I say it is! I miss it already.
