Prof. G.N. Saibaba was tortured all along --before and after 2014
Reviewed in India on 3 December 2024
Contents of this book display a deep sensivity and understanding of the oppressed, the alienated and the exploited whose human rights the author championed. So much that his self and self- experience, with argent purity of his soul, absorbs consciousness of all whom he empathised with. He died not just once. Read Alpa Shah's book: THE INCARCERATIONS to get authentic information about why he did what he did while teaching English literature to students and never acted against the law. What is most pointed about the facts of his life and our civilization is that he was always troubled; they were all together in their regression in oppressing the helpless, especially the adivasis; all of them civility- challenged against this single 90 percent crippled man. From 2010 on till he was ordered by the state to rest; and then to rest !!
Why!!
Some of us among we- the-people have always wanted to bypass law or bend it on the sly, or lie to encroach on the natural resources of the Adivasis without royalty or adequate compensation. Such of them then dubbed them- the local Adivasis- dead or alive, and their empathizers, fellow travellers and advocates Naxalite or Maoist. (Ones who genuinely controlled Maoists and Naxalites, and who knew how to do that are the genuine people, who know revolutionary vision and contexts, and they were the people in Left Front govts in West Bengal). Prof. Saibaba's book signifies his formidable love for life and its ubiquitous cosmic unity. His death is not an ordinary death of a man. It is an historic event... an inexorable context for historical conscientizakao. And so are his poems and letters- displaying the soul-felt oppression that rather than breaking, asserts jijivisha in the manner it is signified in Ishavasyopnishad, but all for the lives of the repressed and human love. The book carries genre of suffering in the jail, and the world of relations forming a concept through the chinks and chiaroscuro of strengths in formation. We owe you a lot Professor!! How can any system retrieve the lost worldly years and personal age back to the victim of a long awaited justice, and give them back to him? Not even artificial and fake wealth called capital. Author's love in his poems says it.
