Murder in Provence is an amusing cross between ‘Allo ‘Allo and Father Brown. Listening to the cast speak in English with French pronunciations of locations and names is like listening to Officer Crabtree in the old ‘80s classic comedy. The plots are rather Father Brown like aided by the appearance of Lady Felicia in a lead role, with Flambeau in episode 3, well, playing Doctor Flambeau! The real star of the show is Provence, which saves the day. Roger Allam and Keala Settle are well cast. Someone needs to show Lady Felicia how to act like she’s driving a car in episode 3 closing scene. The romantic set-up is hilarious because it’s obvious that the Citroen is on a rolling road with fake scenery passing the windows and Lady Felicia is not watching the road in the entire scene! Tighten up the acting and direction and the show has some legs, provided viewers can get over the ‘Allo ‘Allo dialogue pronunciation.
