SPOILERS AHEAD !!!!
this book was honestly one of the best i've ever read, i would go as far as to say it's my favorite. i know a lot of people didn't like the fact that the title spoiled the ending but in my opinion, it made the book more interesting. because even though i knew they were gonna die, i still got invested. and part of me even had hope that they would beat death-cast's warning and live anyway. but alas, they did not. as soon as mateo left the bed to go make tea, i KNEW he was gonna die. and even though it broke my heart that they didn't die together, i liked how mateo died in his safe place, doing something for rufus. i even shed a few tears during the part where rufus was yelling at mateo to wake up. i also liked how rufus's death was left unwritten and up for the readers to figure out but still kind of obvious that victor hit him while speeding to the park. something i noticed was that when victor called rufus at the beginning to let him to he was gonna die, he tells rufus that he's not at fault for his death. he also said he had never lied to a decker before, however he told two lies that day, the other being when he told delilah that she would be okay. that's why i enjoyed the side characters bumping into rufus and mateo all day. the other thing i liked about this book was how being lgbtq+ wasn't the characters whole personalities. as a bi person, i feel like some books are way too on the nose with their lgbtq rep, so i enjoyed how low-key it was. to sum it all up, i loved this book and would definitely recommend.
