I’ve enjoyed all of Peter Heller’s novels. His best by far is “Dog Stars”. I was somewhat disappointed in “The Last Ranger” maybe because I had been a ranger in my younger days—Glacier National Park and the Everglades and it didn’t quite fit my experience. “Burn”, on the other hand was excellent. Slow getting into it, but then I couldn’t put it down—the best of male bonding and friendship in a suddenly dystopian landscape—then the warmth and care shown for a 5-year old little girl in lion pajamas. I hope they made it home….
