This was so obviously, desperately trying so hard to be an avant garde disturbing movie. Suspense was only driven by the very simple "eery" music. How the illnesses were manifested by the villain was never revealed, yet somehow solved by the senseless ending.
This involved so many great actors it makes me feel that the characters weren't the only ones being blackmailed somehow to their own demise.
