This is a must watch film. Adu is a bright light that keeps up rooting for him. Some would say it shows the underbelly of African life, but I would say it shows the typical, the accurate African life. We know there will be an intersection when all parties come close to meeting, but it’s the richness of the characters’ emotions and struggles along the way that keep us watching. The Fence stops us in our tracks. It’s a fence that divides the “have’s” from the “have-not’s” and forces us to examine our views of immigration, desperation, and the deserving.
