The Silmarillion was one of the most impactful books on my life. I loved the scope and ambitiousness of Tolkien, enjoyed the first movie series, and didn't have any overt criticism on the second set of movies. I knew some of the controversy surrounding the series but tried to tune it out and enjoy the tv series as it was. This wasn't a terrible depiction of the events in the second age, all adaptions are going to stray from the source materials to a degree. The setting was beautiful, but let's be honest this wasn't a good tv show and considering its budget it was very disappointing. With how the writing & acting was executed I am surprised I eventually finished the series. Next season don't go out of your way to antagonize fans of the source material during interviews and focus on the writing & acting more than try to have them as fillers in between cinematic experiences.
