Someone who only read the basic description of this book used Dahls name and characters to try to pass a gross, weirdly animated checklist of characters off as something worth watching. Nothing like the book. Don’t waste your time. One more reason Netflix isn't worth the money.

Overall pretty good. Not a classic but will probably watch again at some point. Impressive that they managed to get so many Abba songs in one movie and generally have them fit the plot. However the biggest issues are 1. Pierce and Bill cannot sing. Great actors but buckets still couldn't hold that tune. If they wanted a good looking Scottish actor for a singing role get Gerard Butler. He has an amazing voice. See Phantom of the Opera for references. 2. Making Colin gay felt like checking an inclusion box rather than a plot point. 3. Having the movie end with Sophie and Sky going off to travel the world and live like they are married without actually getting married after all that seemed like such a weird way to end. Didn't they want to get married?? I thought the only disagreement was how big the wedding would be? Also biologically theres a pretty small window where you can get pregnant. 3 guys over 26 days is clearly not healthy but if you keep track of your cycle at all it would be pretty easy to figure out who the dad was.

I see what they were trying to do with this show but it doesn't work. Feels like a preachy after school special rather than a kids show. The characters feel very one dimensional and boring. Not giving a translation of what is said in a different language doesn't help people learn about language and culture it just makes you confused. And the episode where the ignorant white visitors accidentally start a forest fire is white frankly an eye roll at best. The fire prevention info was good but was bored the whole way through. Doesn't hold a candle to Wild Kratts.

Intrigued but the whole movie just felt like a set up for a sequel. Plus the whole plot revolves around her not being baptized. It literally takes 3 seconds and some water to baptize someone. They could have done it at any time in the entire movie. Plot hole big time.

Yet another Christmas movie that completely takes Christ out of the picture. Even from a secular point of view this movie was terrible. This movie is filled with parents being killed, seriously, 3 in 1 movie. Depressed kids, oblivious parents, cruel relatives( the main characters aunt kicks him out, starves him and then feeds him his only toy, a turnip carved by his [of course dead] mother), people being eaten or almost eaten by bears, borderline starvation, kidnapping children, raids on elf Christmas parties, an elf dictatorship(???) and a Pixie who is in jail for blowing up peoples heads. The pixie also tries to get the main character killed and then they just casually move past that and are suddenly best friends? Of course the message in the end is that giving gifts is the meaning of Christmas. What a surprise. The best part of this movie, minus Maggie Smith because she is always wonderful, was the talking mouse. And I hate mice. 0/10 would not watch or recommend for any age
