I can’t recommend this series strongly enough. It adapts the US series Designated Survivor to a Korean political thriller, with first rate acting and a superior script. While an English speaker must read captions, which means backing it up from time to time to catch all the dialogue, it is so worth it. It does start slowly and simply. An idealistic environmental professor is fired from the cabinet of the Blue House (analogous to US White House) for refusing to agree publically on an agreement to reduce the fine dust in the atmosphere. As he is driving with his wife, trying to explain how he was fired, they see a huge explosion. Their capitol building has been wiped out, along with the president and his cabinet. Because his firing was not yet final, he is the only one left, and is made acting president for the next 60 days. He insists on making honorable decisions, even though he is repeatedly advised how politically disasterous these decisions will be. There is a dangerous confrontation with North Korea, a military coup, and the ongoing effort of the survivors to find out who conspired to blow up the capital. The political discussions are realistic and sophisticated. The series is alternately hilarious, heartbreaking and very, very suspenseful. The actors are wonderful. I became so attached to them , even the character actors who are supposed to be annoying, that I am heartbroken to let them go. I really think you want to hear the dialogue as originally spoken instead of dubbed. I understand this is the most re-watched series in Korea. It may be for me too. Yes, the first episode was boring.

I’m watching the last episode of season 3 of the expanse again, and finally understanding it.I need to thank the original writer, whose brilliance is mind boggling, and the writers and producers, and the wonderful, wonderful cast for the most amazingly well produced and written sci-fi series in human history. Worth watching 10 times at least. God I love these people. I thank Amazon for picking up the series and giving us 3 more seasons. Amazon respects the writer, producing series which accurately reflect the books, also evident in Bosch and jack ryan.

After a long dry spell of morally bankrupt television writing, the Joe Pickett series is an absorbing, nail biting timeless classic. In the books joe Pickett is the quintessential American hero, a man without superpowers, but with determination and integrity, and a deep love of family. It would be easy to ruin the sense of these very popular books about a Wyoming game warden, but the series really captures the characters, suspense and underlying menace. The actors who play joe and Marybeth are note perfect. Except for the early introduction of the popular character Nate Romanowski, this is only book 1. Everyone in my extended family hopes there will be many more.
