Not a Mario fan but I did come out from watching this film pleasantly surprised by how good it was due to Illumination's track record. It was entertaining, engaging and funny. The last time I enjoyed myself was The Last Wish back in January. Mario fan or not there's something to enjoy in this film with its respect for the source material and how they implemented the references without them coming across as forced. It's not a great film by any means, I rate it a 4.5 out of 10 overall, but I do recommend it to those who are interested. This is truly the Renaissance for video game adaptations.
