This is excellent book, a must read for everyone in Australia and across the globe, whatever your age. It is a story about what is in store for you as you age. What happened to Bob could happen to any of us. I love this book, and I loved Sarah and her family. Sarah’s poignant account of her battle to protect her family from a brutal and cruel system is heartbreaking . Her lifelong partner, Bob, was incarcerated, against his will in an aged care home and subjected to years of brutal violence and abuse, before he died in agonising pain in their custody. He was a captive of a broken system. What happened to Bob was inhumane cruel and unnecessary. The Royal Commission into Aged Care in Australia found that the aged “care” system causes the premature deaths of thousands of Australians to every year. Nothing has changed since Bob’s death. How can this happen in a so called civilised country?
