Muscular writing at times musclebound by an omniscience that synthesizes every possible metaphor and associated significant fact into a rich mixture of beautifully honed paragraphs. A pleasure to read his prose irregardless of what subject is being considered. His intellect and ability to convey deep meanings , at times, leaves the casual reader in the dust. His etymological athleticism seems to be a bit more toned down on his more recent novels. Easily one of the most underrated authors ever.
