I want to start by saying I am a huge fan of the original Beetlejuice film. It’s in my top ten favorite films list. But this movie…. This movie??? Was horrible. Absolutely horrible. There were times during the film where I felt embarrassed to be there. I won’t say any spoilers, but do not go into this movie hoping to have a good time similar to what happened in the first one. It’s very very different from the first film. I was thinking maybe this movie was made for people who will be newly introduced to the character. And that’s why I didn’t like it. But, if I didn’t know who Beetlejuice was and I watched this movie I would still be confused as to who this guy is/was. The characters from the original movie who returned offered a very small bit of nostalgia but the story is so all over the place I left the theatre more confused than anything. The jokes weren’t funny. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. I expected more.
