The Accidental Prime Minister
★★★☆☆
A must watch political drama
It’s an essential watch for those who want to know how the crooked Nehru-Gandhi-Sonia dynasty manipulates, compromises, demeans, and undermines the constituionally created Institutions of India to serve its own selfish and sleazy ends.
It also is a severe indictment of the Congress leaders who, though giants in their own rights, choose to kow-tow before the dynasty, mortgage their self-respect and honour and that of the constituional positions they hold, just to stay close to power.
Actors have perforemd well. The screenplay is taut and precise. It follows the book by Sanjay Baru, who served as a media advisor to Man Mohan Singh. He has given a very generous and sympathetic account of his ex-boss almost acting like his apologist. The fact is MMS was always a minion of the family who actively supervised every scam perpetrated by it since the beginning of the dynastic rule in post 1947 India.
I was surprised to find some of the dialogues unjustifiably muted.
