I loved the movie. I thought it was interesting and very immersive so I was taken aback when i found out how low the rating is. I can see why people say it's a bit predictable but it's not boring at all and managed to keep me at the edge of my seat.
I personally thought the acting was impressive. One that I'd like to point out is Ryan Guzman's portrayal as a very convincing mentally unstable person. It's not over the top but rather subtle. He managed to show his sinister and manipulative nature through his expressions and voice. And I think everyone is well aware of Jennifer Lopez's acting skills but she's really good with her expressions, like I could really feel her fear, guilt and angst. I also think the literature reference was a nice touch to provide a shred of information regarding Noah's psyche.
However, the movie is definitely not suitable for a family movie night (with kids) since the sex scene was quite steamy and 'detailed' in a way. And there are also a few violent acts and bloody scenes toward the end of the movie but nothing extreme though. Of course there are some scenes that made me scoff in disbelief like when Claire was able to locate the hidden camera as soon as she went into the house (lol).
In my opinion, the good definitely outweighs the bad in this movie but to each their own :)
