Eh it wasn't the worst film I've ever seen but an unforgivable last half ruined it.
I'm not sure why there were negative mentions of the cinematography. I thought the film was full of beautiful and interesting shots cinematography-wise. Sure it had a tad bit sluggish pacing but it reminded me of Cormack McCarthy's The Road and the film based on that. Some of it is on the unbelievable side but aren't all apocalyptic movies like that? The Road was a much better film.
My criticisms include character development, or lack thereof. I also would add bland casting except Whitaker. I am not necessarily a fan of movies that are tinted one color or another throughout nearly the entire runtime. It gets old fast.
The ending was really disappointing. I kept waiting for the film to end but it wouldn't and they added another subplot that was unnecessary. It's like they didn't know how to end it! Also, the girlfriend would've been showing from being pregnant but has no baby bump. The first half of the film was much more interesting. They could have ended it at the moment the main character met his girlfriend.
Man what a stupid ending.
