This could have been a really fun show. The clothes, the setting, even most of the acting! But the plot is far too thin and relies too heavily on Wiig's quirky cuteness. Leslie Bibb and Allison Janney are really great, but Laura Dern destroys every scene she's in, and not just with her terrible acting. She's all wrong, style-wise, and her nonstop wokisms are completely out of place in 1969. The whole show just comes to a screeching halt when she appears. There's an execrable sequence with her and Ricky Martin that just made me want to turn it off and never come back. Trying to shoehorn in the annoying sensibilities of today's most annoying people is not a win for a show set in the past. I wish Hollywood would stop trying to convert people.
