This is true and true a successor to dead space.
Although in hindsight, this feels a lot more like Glen Schofield (the evil mastermind behind dead space and callisto) was testing the waters with this game, and seeing how people took to the systems and world he’s built.
I would say currently that DS1R is scarier, but that it’s because it relies heavily on jump scares. Callisto is scary in an ambient type of way. You know it’s coming, you just aren’t sure when. It’s very tense.
I’ll say that, it seems like either they cut a lot of content out of the game or as I said before, this may have been a test run of sorts.
The dodging is not as janky as others have said once you get the hang of it.
I do think, it has a problem with repetition. They pick a gimmick for each chapter and seem to stick with it for that chapter only. It really seems like the devs were playing it safe with this game, which again, comes off as a test run for the world they have built.
I’ll say that the game ends with a hint at a sequel, and that Glen Schofield himself has said that he’s excited to make a sequel. I just really hope he doesn’t hold back on the gruesome horror we grew accustomed to in dead space. and also that they implement some new gameplay mechanics and changes to freshen it up.
