The first episode started slow but was necessary to set the stage for situations to come. Sean Bean steals the show as his Sheriff of Nottingham is clearly weighed down by his responsibilities and the sure knowledge of the consequences of error. This version of the legend is less fun than the classic movie with Flynn, or the endlessly entertains Disney cartoon. It is far less dark than the Crowe and Fox versions. I believe it will stand the test of time better than the Costner version. The transition of Robin from angry and conflicted to revolutionary is both well acted and well written. Each character deserves mention for the high quality of performance. We even have a gender mystery developing. Watch this one. It deserves your time.
