It has it's funny moments, but PTA is not Tarantino and cannot properly weave an action drama with comedic relief and timing. The movie is not impressive in any regard with lackluster cinematography, a boring plot, and decent acting. But decent acting can't save a bad script. It reads like a fanfic, characters are projections of political characters. You have 30 min of the movie weaving in sex scenes to show that a racist border patrol agents secretly loves minorities. Then the revolutionaries end up only killing one civilian security guard with all the shooting and bombs on public infrastructure shown on screen, with none of their actions affecting normal people because of course they would never affect normal people because this movie reads like a fanfic. The one civilian death is used to move the plot forward and is the only reason it's included, it's clear this plot device was just lazy writing. The rest of the movie is a chase for DiCaprio finding his daughter but the plot is bland with predictable outcomes at every corner with nothing special to show for it.
