Unpopular opinion: *Spoilers* I genuinely love this game. I fell in love with The Last of Us because I related to Joel. Seeing Joel and Ellie's character changes as time goes on only made me fall in love with them more and I think I speak for the majority of the community when I say that. The Last of Us 2, however, shows the brutal torture and murder of (arguably) one of the greatest videogame characters of all time. We get to play as Ellie and see the story from her perspective and also get to see Abby's (the woman who tortures Joel) side of the story. Playing as Abby allows us to see why she spent years training and hunting Joel. The majority of the community hates the fact that the main theme of the game is revenge and how it can ruin lives. (Abby gets revenge on Joel for murdering her father and Ellie seeks revenge on Abby for murdering Joel.) Seeing how Abby came from being a selfish person and had a change of heart is no different than seeing how Joel was stone cold towards Ellie in the first game and then after she saves his life he then loves her like a daughter. The story is a great story and the ending wasn't cliché like the first game but it did leave me feeling like "Wow... Damn..." Would I have preferred a different ending? Sure. I wont argue that. But again the main theme of this game is revenge and how it can ruin someone's life. I honestly believe they nailed it. I know my opinion is unpopular but I genuinely enjoyed the game. I'd rate this game a 4.5/5 but Google only has full stars.
