This film was the epitome of unity, awareness, and excellence within the pan-African movement. Besides the beautiful directory of this project, Beyoncé gives many explicit and subliminal messages of power within. The one star ratings that compare this film to a “white is king” fictional project, are ignorant as to why that would never happen. The pan African movement was created in spite of the hardships, loss of identity, and separation that was caused by “white is king” superior mentality. If you genuinely watch this film and listen, you will understand the title was not out of a superiority complex, but rather an enlightening self-awareness for a people who have generationally been discouraged to do otherwise.
