If you want to just chill with your friends this movie would be a good pick, if you want a cinematic masterpiece then no. The humor was alright got a few laughs out of me and the audience. The animation was surprisingly really good, did not expect them to go all out in the Mario movie, everything was super detailed like the characters' hair, bowsers scales ext. The sound track was also really good, loved how they edited the classical tunes from the game into the film. The plot was where the film really fell flat, (Spoilers obviously) the beginning of the film introduced us to Mario and Luigi who left their old job to right it all on a plumbing business, they got their first job which ended up being a flop then they go home to their family while Mario got berated for trying to follow his dream by leaving his stable job and bringing his brother down with him. That aspect of the film never got touched on again, you'd think this movie be about following your dreams no matter what at first glance but it seemed like they gave up on that part. Peach's character was a total Mary Sue she was presented as being a chosen leader who became Princess of the Mushroom kingdom, being more capable then Mario ext. Even when captured she still somehow managed a way to escape. The movie also ends without a positive resolution, we don't know anything about Mario, Luigi's Peach's new life and how that experience affected them. They also seemed to force too many Mario aspects in the movie that seemed a bit unnecessary, for exempt they tried to include the original Donkey Kong games, the old Super Mario bros show ext. There was an attempted emotional moment between Donkey Kong and Mario which lasts a few seconds. Bowser also conveniently acted dumb by not using the super star allowing Mario and Luigi to use it. Overall the movie is defiantly entertaining but probably not what one would consider good, then again can't fault it too much as it is a video game movie.
