Critics hated it. Mel Gibson said he was disappointed in it. Viewers overwhelmingly loved "P&M," including me. Saw "P&M" on Netflix. Despite initial thoughts that the subject matter was too esoteric for my taste, the title piqued my curiosity, and I gave it a shot. Glad I did. Gibson and Penn were outstanding, and the supporting cast matched their performances, especially the reliable Eddie Marsan, Natalie Dormer and Steve Coogan (Laurel in "Stan and Ollie). The viewer is taken into a world they'd probably never given a second thought - the creation of the first dictionary - and given insight into the overwhelming scale of the task. Who would have thought a film on etymology and schizophrenia would be so fascinating?
