What a civilized movie, a far cry from the vacuous action flicks that numb the mind. I saw 'Pain and Glory' on Christmas Day. It is pure joy and a memorable story told by a master of sounds and images.

I didn't know that this movie existed until I found it by chance on TV this afternoon. It is very entertaining, funny and, in its mumble-jumble Americanized sensibility about the wisdom of China, quite touching. What a way to spend a pandemic afternoon seeing an old flick made the year before America re-opened its door to immigrants from China. Tony Randall is amazing.

What a heart-wrenching movie. Human. Moving. Ultimately hope-filled, saved by the instinct of a dog and his sincere and caring master.

Just saw this movie. Not a great one but entertaining in a weird way if being scared and made uncomfortable is what you want. It is blatantly sadistic couched in psychobabble delight.
