Watched episode 1 today and, like someone else has already mentioned, I’m genuinely surprised at the number of non-whites in this production; I’d never known there were so many around in England and France during this time period, however as my knowledge of history is only somewhere between O and A level I’m happy to concede that I may have been misled at school. The follow up to Wolf Hall - so good I’ve watched it twice The mirror and the Light was also ruined for the same woke reason, as was Shardlake (yes I read the books). I can’t take them seriously tbh but am waiting expectantly for the remake of Shaka Zulu with the characters played by non-Africans, that’s going to be a hoot.
