I can't understand why so many reviews haven't discussed the elephant in the room!.....Claire's mum marries Jamie's grandfather, using her maiden name, Beauchamp. And her father is woven into the very recent history of both families as well. Everyone is not only familiar with sassenachs, but they're familiar with Beauchamps. Jamie would know that his grandfather married a sassenach named Beauchamp. It's ruined it! Also, they've made Claire's mum an exact replica of Claire, she's even a healer! (And she's just as poor an actress, but that's another story). The first episode was so good, I loved every minute of it. The second episode was terrible, and the rest of the series was slow and disappointing. But most of all, the way it contradicted Claire's arrival in Scotland in Outlander, was just wrong. I can't believe Diana Gabaldon was part of it and let it be written so wrong.
