I've loved the original Rebecca with Lawrence Olivier for a long time. I read the book and the sequel (Mrs. deWinter) and enjoyed them. I loved the miniseries adaption by Masterpiece Theater with Charles Dance, highly recommended! The main problems with this adaption are: Maxim was too young and not sophisticated or mysterious enough, his young wife is too pretty and fast (wow!) Mrs. Danverse is not menacing, Frank is not important, Favelle is not dashing at all, and where the heck is Colonel Julian?! The only decent character (in my opinion) is Ben! If I didn't know the story so well I could have enjoyed this due to the setting. The ending was ridiculous! 🤦
