Incredible artwork and sensational calligraphy. Thompson draws from both historical fact and fiction, which I enjoyed researching after my read. Best read as a dark fairytale rather than a literal depiction of "The East" For highly empathetic people some chapters are hard to swallow, and there are some risqué scenes that may irritate a more conservative audience but breathe life into those who truly love good art.
