To say this movie is indulgent is to be incredibly kind. This movie is the equivalent to watching a man tell the same joke for two and a half hours straight, with him laughing at his own bit at the end every time. There are few times the movie accidentally makes a funny joke, but its immediately ruined by another unfunny moment or out of context 90s joke. The story at its heart is quite literally daddy issues the movie, ending with an absolution of bert for all his failures, and no changes to himself or anything resembling character development.
