I really want to like this series as I held these books very near and dear to me for 15+ years… I can get past the character appearance thing but the fact that they added/changed so many aspects about the story in just the first episode doesn’t give me a whole lot of hope for the longevity of this series. I mean, we were promised a series as close and true to the source material as possible, and honestly it seems like no effort was made some of these random plot changes and rushed exposition really just killed my interest in the accuracy of the plot from here on. Not to mention highly disappointed in Rick for not understanding people being upset with casting is not racism, it’s just that you give people an expectation and tear it away after years of anticipation… people are gonna be upset naturally. It’s like saying if they hyped up a green Xbox for years and then just turned around and said “btw that green console we were gonna sell you? Yea we decided to just make it black instead. Why are you mad? What’s wrong with black?”. See the idiocy? Cmon Rick, everyone knows no one would call you racist for leaving your story how it was. The books had more than enough representation already with Italian, black, Hispanic, etc characters.
