I'm not too sure why so many people dislike this movie, because I honestly thought it was amazing. It had so many twists and turns and unexpected occurrances, anything could happen at any second, which is what made it so thrilling. The casting of Julia Roberts and Charlie Evans was amazing, they both played the role of "protective mother" and "annoying older brother" so well. There was no build up and strange stuff started happening within 15-20 minutes, which I really liked. There is one really obvious flaw with this movie though, and that is the easily unlikeable characters. There is first of all the bratty younger daughter who left her entire family and fled to the nuclear bunker, which just so conveniently happened to have the last season of Friends, so she could do what she had been wanting to do the entire movie - watch the last episode. Then the movie ends. Very confusing. Another incredibly unlikeable character is Ruth - immediately she created a bad impression, and treated all of the other characters like dirt- even her own father at times. It's these unlikeable characters that really do ruin parts of the movie. Another flaw is, where is the military and so on in this situation? If anything dreadful like this were to actually happen, the military would be on it immediately - but in this movie they are nowhere to be seen, which seems odd. But anyway, moving on, there were some really key scenes which I just thought were absolutely amazing, the first one being the scene with the Teslas. The idea behind this scene, I thought it was such a clever idea. The second scene is that of the noise- it's just so random, and leaves you with so many questions, which I really admire. I would certainly recommend this movie, although it seems that others maybe wouldn't. And as Julie Andrews says, after reading this review section, I have decided that, "I f**king hate people".
