No spoilers - I left the theatre thinking to myself, did they really need to make this? And the answer I came to was: no. If I want to have a rush of the Matrix: all I need is the trilogy. The acting across the board was not what I was expecting at all, especially from the seniors. The script was surprisingly off - I was not impressed by the monologues, and honestly, at most points in the film, I felt that the seniors were trying to play themselves in the previous movies, rather than play the characters for WHO they had BECOME in the STORY of the Matrix. This film I believe was made to get money from our pockets, and in that, they ultimately succeeded. But it was, in my eyes, it was a total letdown. I sit here writing this feeling letdown because I had been looking forward to seeing it for weeks now - I marked it on my calendar and made sure to get advanced tickets, but this story, for me, fell flat right from the get-go. I believe the general public has some sort of idea that the story-line is king and everything else in the film is assisting in telling it the best way possible. To me, right from the start of this film there was no amount of FX or action that could bring me away from the lack of depth of story in this film. It was not a story I felt needed to be told. Lastly, of course, this is my opinion - I can't imagine the amount of work that had gone into making ALL of this possible, however, this is a business review - a business transaction went on tonight in which I paid around $30 to go to a theatre, buy my ticket, popcorn, and a drink, and enjoy this piece - in my opinion, I did not feel that I got $30 worth of STORY. Sit me down at the original Matrix, $30 out of my pocket: I'd be ranting and raving to everyone they have to see this film, that story was INSANE!!!! WHAT DID I JUST WATCH!!! Sit me down at Street Car Named Desire, $30 out of my pocket, same sort of reaction: WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?! WHAT ACTING!!! STELLA!! STELLA!!!!!!! Bottom line: Resurrection's story was not worth seeing and was a let down. Skip it. A wish to WB: that the original art pieces of films were left to be enjoyed and live on their legacy - not try to be justified or re-written in some way to make more money - The original trilogy was enough WB, you gave us your best Neo, your best Trinity, your best Smith, your best Morphius - Let them rest now, please.
