A very fine live outing, and a well done recording of it. Is the sequence of cuts the same as played at the live gig? Sounds like it, because it gets better and better as the night goes on - the band gels, and one of the pleasures is hearing this happen. Tempo sounds in top form, very much bringing to mind Stan Getz with his tone, but with a more muscular and blues-tinged style. (I had no idea he was this fine a jazz player.) Ace rhythm section of Bromberg, Terri Lynn Carrington and Mike Lane. Pianist Lane especially starts to sparkle more in the later cuts. Candoli's trumpet seems a bit down in the mix, but he gets a good solo take on "Lover Man."
