I had heard a lot of good things about Cake but just never got around to watching it, and when I did watch it last night, I wondered why I hadn't done so before. This is just such a beautifully shot, well-scripted and excellently acted out movie that it's going to stay with me for a long time. It is difficult not to relate to the story and characters at some level because the focus on family and the complicated relations between them is so real. and more so as an Urban female. all the main actors play their part so perfectly and realistically, with the layers and shade in their personalities and their relationships peeling slowly, sometimes suddenly, as the movie goes not. The story line is simple, it is all the aspects of the film-making that make Cake an exceptional movie. Anyone who has access to it, must watch it.
