I loved this movie...From John Mortimer's tight script to the star studded cast and fabulous scenery..The age old story ..The love of money moves this whacky romance/thriller along at a cracking pace ..Lawrence Harvey is the con man and pulls out all the stops..A Joy to see John Meillon as the Aussie sheep farmer who Lawrence Harvey tries to emulate...but fortunately gives up mangling the accent half way through...Lee Remick is luminous and the handsome Alan Bates completes the triumvirate...A romp.......

A gem...wonderful cast and sensitive story without sentiment..These actors just shine...Brenda Blethyn never fails to amaze me and in this s tory she is surrounded by a wonderful cast..Old age is not for the faint hearted and this theme is told with humour and grace..With a few acerbic asides...of course...

A shame that this story of crime ,corruption and cover up became a soap opera that drowned in it's own sentiment...

I was intrigued by this movie...It is of it's time...A luminous Meryl Streep holds it's flimsy story line together...The blatant product placement and bland scenery took me by surprise...As did the special effects that had me a bit jumpy...The cast was well served by Guloise cigarettes and Tab soda pop...Cigarettes were front and centre and only seemed to missing when dialogue was needed..It is an interesting piece of history and worth watching.....

A stellar cast could not bring this dirge of a movie alive for me..The characters were so totally unlikable and self centered that I felt no empathy for them..A cameo appearance from the magnificent Anne Read was the only light in a dark depressing drama about selling ones soul for cold hard cash....Depressing and turgid....

Anna Kendrick is to be congratulated...A tight movie that holds interest from the beginning...Well acted and true to form...Looks good and a couple of historical inaccuracies do not detract from the over all sense of dread...well done...

gratuitous smut...tuned out...

This series got me in...For the first 2 episodes..Good fleshed out characters...Creepy old Victorian house lending atmosphere..A credible plot and well acted....But by episode 4 it was just a mess...Any sympathy for the characters was exhausted and the splatter in the end just plain silly...

I am not a fan of gratuitous profanity so I could not embrace this movie..Also I found the PC grating....The stellar cast seemed to be enjoying the romp..Not me....

A neurotic Asher Keddie and a reptilian David Wenham bring this story to life and what a yarn it is...I was hooked from the beginning and even forgave the PC and overuse of mobile phones as this is the way things are done now....It moves along at such a cracking pace it's no wonder most of the cast seemed to be one pill away from the psych ward.....A romp....
