i grew up on the original series. i still like to watch old episodes from time to time. not sure what they were trying to do with this "remake" but it's total dreck. vapid and edgier-than-necessary banter; cliche and predictable characters (somehow all under the age of 30) and sort of a lack of respect for the original tone of the show. episodes felt like a dumb version of CSI: miami and looked about that way, too. part of what made macgyver cool was that he didn't need high-tech to solve problems. it was the 80s, yes, so no cellphones or internet, but his use of available tech was really limited and he was crafty in his solutions to complicated problems. this show borrows way too much from the magical "internet geek assistant" grabbag who empowers mac to solve basically everything. bor-ring.
